Polls: Idle Yale climbs, not much else new

Someone at USCHO and CBS College Sports must be listening (or all the Yale grads who vote woke up) , because this week’s USCHO/CBS national poll puts the Eli into 8th place, dropping UMass-Lowell out of the Top 10. Otherwise, the identities of the chosen few mirror the September 29 USA Today/USA Hockey poll, with some changes of place.

Polls and all that….

The first set of weekly rankings from USAToday/USA Hockey and the College Hockey News are out, and there’s not much to choose between them. The only significant difference is that North Dakota, 8th in USA Today, doesn’t show up at all in the CHN top 10. Something else worthy of note: Yale is ranked first in its conference, the ECAC, by the coaches, but falls below both Cornell (ECAC pre-season rank 2) and Princeton (ECAC pre-season 3) in both polls. Go figure. But that’s why they play the games.
